The recent form figures tell a mixed story. A second place is buried in there — the best result of her career so far — but it sits alongside a seventh, a tenth, and an eighth, which suggests she's as likely to disappear into the pack as she is to threaten the podium. At Class 5, the lowest tier of British racing, she's had eight attempts and hasn't won any of them. That's the level where horses go to find races they can be competitive in, so the fact she hasn't broken through there yet is a fair reflection of where she currently stands.
Her trainer Robert Stephens operates out of Caldicot in Monmouthshire and has sent out 11 winners already this season, which shows the yard knows how to get a horse in the winner's enclosure. The question is whether Edna E Mode can be the next one.
