Edergole's Gift

The numbers are modest but not without shape. All three career wins have come on normal ground conditions, going 2 from 16 races in those circumstances — that's a 12% win rate, or roughly 1 in every 8 races, which is meaningfully better than its overall record of 1 in every 12. When the track rides normally, this horse performs noticeably better, and that's the kind of pattern any trainer worth their salt will be working with. Conrad Allen, based at Newmarket, has sent out 12 winners this season from his yard, so there's clear ability to place horses well.

The most recent win came at Chelmsford in October 2025 — about six months ago — and the last six races since have produced a sixth, eleventh, a blank result, another sixth, a tenth, and a second. That's a horse knocking on the door occasionally but not quite converting. The blank result in that sequence is a little concerning, but the second place shows it can still run competitively on its day. Six races without a win at this level does suggest it needs things to fall right.

Regular jockey Darragh Keenan has been in the saddle for 17 of those 36 races together and found the winner's enclosure just once — a 6% win rate, or 1 win from 17, which is on the lower side. The first career win came at Lingfield Park back in August 2024, and Chelmsford followed more than a year later. These are gaps that require patience from everyone involved. For a horse racing almost every week and still placing fairly regularly, Edergole's Gift earns its keep without ever quite stealing the headlines. The question heading into its next race is whether normal ground and the right day can finally produce a fourth career win.
