The most striking thing about Earls is what happens when the horse heads to Roscommon. Three wins from just five races at that track amounts to winning 3 in every 5 visits, which is the sort of record that makes trainers circle a course on the calendar. It's not a fluke — it's dominance. The last of those wins came in September 2025, and it remains the most recent victory on the record. Before that, Earls had shown the ability to go and win at a higher level too: a Class 2 success at Haydock Park in April 2024 proved this is a horse that can handle one of Britain's better races, winning 1 from 4 at that level overall.

The partnership with jockey Gary Carroll is worth noting. Carroll has been in the saddle for 23 of Earls' 44 races and has ridden 5 of the 8 career wins — a win rate of roughly 1 in every 4 or 5 rides together, which is meaningfully better than the horse's overall average. When those two click, things tend to happen. Trainer Gavin Cromwell, based at Navan in County Meath, runs a busy and productive yard — 97 winners this season alone — so Earls is part of a genuinely strong operation.

The recent form reads 2nd, a non-completion, 10th, 19th, 6th, 3rd across the last six runs, which means six races without a win. That won't concern anyone unduly at this stage of a horse's career; the ability is clearly still there, as that second place shows. Earls is nine years old now, an experienced campaigner who knows the game, and with Roscommon on the horizon at some point, there's every reason to think another win isn't far away.
