Due Date

Wallis trains out of Ardleigh in Essex, and his team has sent out 7 winners already this season, so the yard is in decent form. Due Date's most regular partner in the saddle has been Rob Hornby, though their record together — 1 win from 10 races, or just 1 in every 10 — is a touch on the lean side. That is not necessarily a damning statistic at this level, but it does suggest the combination has not quite clicked as often as you might hope.

The most recent win came at Chelmsford on 30 October 2025, which is now six months ago, and the last six runs have produced finishing positions of 7th, 8th, 12th, 7th, 7th, and 6th — a consistent pattern of mid-to-back-of-field finishes that will concern anyone hoping for a return to form. It is worth noting that Due Date's very first career win also came at Chelmsford, back in January 2024, so the track clearly suits. The question is whether another visit there can unlock something that has gone quiet over the past half-year.

Raced as recently as yesterday, Due Date is clearly still being actively campaigned, and at 6 years old there is no reason to write him off. Horses at this level can find a pocket of form with little warning, and a yard that is winning races this season is not sending him out just to fill the field. A return to winning ways would not be a shock — but right now, he is a horse searching for a spark.
