The recent form figures make for uncomfortable reading: a fall or exit, a tenth, fourth, ninth, second, and fourth. There are signs of life in there — that second place shows the ability hasn't vanished entirely — but the ninth and tenth suggest a horse that is finding things tough at the moment, running into fields it can't quite crack. Trainer Daniel McLoughlin, based in Newbridge, Co Kildare, will know the puzzle he's got on his hands. His yard has sent out 9 winners this season, so the operation is in decent working order — the answers are there somewhere.
Duckadilly broke its duck at Naas in May 2024, then added the Fairyhouse win just over a year later. Two wins at two different tracks in the space of 13 months suggested a horse building nicely. The question now is whether that upward curve has flattened or whether the right opportunity just hasn't come along yet. Having raced as recently as yesterday, Duckadilly is clearly being kept busy, and McLoughlin hasn't given up on finding that next winning moment.
