Dubawi Time

The two career wins give a sense of the journey. The first came at Kempton Park in February 2024, and the second arrived at Great Yarmouth in October of the same year — meaning Dubawi Time has now gone 19 months and six races without adding to that tally. That kind of run tests patience, and the recent form figures of 6-6-8-8-10-3 tell a story of a horse finishing mid-pack more often than not, with only one hint of a revival in there. It is not a horse setting the world on fire right now.

Micky Hammond trains from Middleham in North Yorkshire, one of the great racing villages in England, and his yard has been in solid form this season with 24 winners already sent out. Dubawi Time competes at Class 6, which is the entry level of British flat racing — the bread-and-butter races where horses of this kind find their opportunities. At that level, it has won 2 of 11 races, or roughly 1 in every 5 and a half, which is a perfectly respectable return for a horse operating at the bottom rung. It is not a star, but it is a horse that earns its place.

What keeps things interesting is that Dubawi Time is still only five and is currently active. That blank in the win column stretching back to autumn 2024 will not last forever if Hammond can find the right race — ideally somewhere around a mile and three or four furlongs where this horse has already proved it knows what it is doing. For a general racing fan, this is a useful lesson in how to watch a horse: ignore the headline record and look for where it concentrates its best performances. Dubawi Time's best is narrow but real.
