Dream Camp

Finishing third in its most recent run and fifth before that gives a picture of a horse that's competitive without yet threatening the winner's enclosure. The most recent outing was only yesterday, so Dream Camp is very much in the thick of its season with time to improve.

What does give cause for optimism is who's doing the training. Andrew Balding operates out of Kingsclere in Hampshire, one of the most respected yards in the country, and this season alone the operation has sent out 202 winners. To put that in perspective, that's not a yard that stumbles into results — that's a conveyor belt of well-prepared horses. When a stable of that quality keeps a horse in training and running, it usually means they see something worth developing. Dream Camp may not have won yet, but being in that environment means it's in exactly the right hands to find out what it's capable of.
