Drafted

What Drafted clearly has is a preference for conditions. On normal ground, it wins at a rate of roughly 1 in every 6 races — 3 wins from 17 outings — which is notably better than its overall record suggests. Strip away the races run on wet or muddy ground, and you start to see a horse that knows what it likes. The same is true of distance: over seven furlongs to a mile, it has won 3 of 21 races, a rate of about 1 in 7. Ask it to do something different, and it tends to find less.

The current drought is worth noting. That said, Drafted is still racing — it ran just one day ago — which means the team has not given up on finding another moment. Given the conditions it prefers, put it on normal ground over a mile on the right day, and it remains the sort of horse that could quietly pop up and remind you it still has something to offer.
