Dovey Moon

The Evans operation, based in Pandy in Monmouthshire, has had a productive season — 37 winners sent out already — and Dovey Moon has played a real part in that. Two of those three career victories have come at Chepstow, which is essentially the local track, and that matters. Some horses simply take to a particular place: the turns, the camber, the atmosphere. Dovey Moon's first win came there on 30 May 2025, then came back on 25 August to win a Class 2 race — one of the top races in Britain — which was a significant step up in class and one worth highlighting. Most horses at this level spend their whole careers below that grade.

The other thing that stands out is the ground. On normal conditions, Dovey Moon has won all three races it has entered — a perfect record. That kind of consistency on a specific surface is rare, and it tells you the team will be watching the forecast carefully when they plan the next run.

The preferred trip is a mile and a touch — between a mile and one furlong and a mile and two furlongs — where the record reads 3 wins from 8 races, winning 3 in every 8, which is a strong ratio. Regular partner Jordan Williams has been in the saddle for 7 of those 17 races together, winning once, which is a modest return, but the partnership is clearly the established one.

Most recently, Dovey Moon won at Nottingham on 15 October 2025, six months ago now, and with a run just yesterday the horse is clearly in active work. That recent form — a seventh, then a win, then a third — suggests the best is coming in bursts rather than in a straight line. For a horse that handles normal ground, knows Chepstow inside out, and has already beaten good company at Class 2 level, there is every reason to think those bursts are not finished yet.
