The most encouraging sign in the record is that second place, which at least shows the ability to get competitive. The challenge is turning near-misses into wins, and the recent slide to fifth and then eighth suggests the horse is heading in the wrong direction at the moment.
What does give reason for optimism is the yard behind the horse. Warren Greatrex's operation, based in Upper Lambourn in Berkshire, has sent out 52 winners already this season — a genuinely productive season for any training yard. Greatrex is a trainer who clearly knows how to place horses to give them the best chance of winning, so if Double Tiger is going to break its duck, it's hard to imagine a better team to make that happen. The key question is simply finding the right race and the right day. It hasn't happened yet, but with an active, well-supported yard behind it, the opportunity will come again soon.
