Dosman

The recent form makes for genuinely encouraging reading. Going through the last six runs from most recent backwards — 5th, 4th, 2nd, 1st, 2nd, 3rd — you can see a horse that has been knocking on the door consistently. A win, two second places, a third, and a fourth in that sequence is the kind of form that keeps a yard enthusiastic. That victory came at Southwell in February 2026, just two months ago, so Dosman arrives at the track in current winning form rather than chasing something from the distant past.

The most revealing number in Dosman's record is the Class 2 tally: zero wins from five attempts at that level. Class 2 races sit among the better contests in Britain, and the fact that Dosman has been placed in them without winning suggests a horse operating right at the ceiling of its ability — competitive enough to get involved, but not quite able to land the prize when the standard rises. The wins have come at Kempton Park in June 2024 and Southwell more recently, both at a more accessible level.

Jonny Peate has ridden Dosman in six of those 17 races and landed one win together, a rate of roughly 1 in 6. It is not a dominant partnership by any measure, but the relationship has clearly been maintained over time, which usually signals a degree of confidence from the trainer's side. That trainer is Oli Rix, based in Newmarket — the heartland of British racing — and his yard has sent out three winners already this season, suggesting things are ticking along nicely. Dosman raced just yesterday, so whatever Rix saw, he liked it enough to keep the horse busy. At this point in the season, a horse in form, active, and placing regularly is exactly where you want it to be.
