The recent form makes for interesting reading. The last six races, reading from most recent backwards, read 9-3-3-6-5-11 — two placed efforts sitting right in the middle of that sequence suggest Divelment is capable of performing well when everything clicks, even if consistency has been the missing piece. Crucially, the horse raced just yesterday, so this is very much a horse in active campaigning rather than one being freshened up between runs.
James Ryan has been the regular partner, riding Divelment in eight of those nine races together without a winner to show for it. That kind of long partnership without a win can mean one of two things — either the combination hasn't quite found the right race yet, or the horse simply hasn't had the day where everything comes together. Given those two placed finishes in recent outings, it feels more like the former than a horse running out of its depth.
The trainer, Jack W Davison, operates out of Dunboyne in County Meath and has sent out eight winners already this season — a yard that clearly knows how to get horses into the winner's enclosure. Divelment hasn't been one of them yet, but a trainer with that kind of output this season is unlikely to keep running a horse without believing the breakthrough is coming. Sometimes the right race, the right ground, and the right day just need to line up — and for Divelment, those elements haven't all arrived at the same moment. Yet.
