That recent win at Downpatrick came just this week, and it follows a spell where Dinoland had gone five races without troubling the judge. Form like that — a string of blanks, then a win — is actually pretty typical of him. His first career win only came at Cartmel in July 2024, relatively late in the story, and since then he has shown that patience does get rewarded eventually. The key ingredient, it turns out, is the ground. On normal conditions Dinoland is a different horse entirely: 3 wins from 10 races, meaning he wins 30% of the time on a standard surface — that's nearly 1 in every 3 races, which is a remarkable conversion rate for any horse at this level. Trained by W R Crawford out of Craigavon in County Armagh, Dinoland represents a small yard that has sent out just one winner this season — and that winner is him. That matters, because it means Crawford has essentially shaped the entire yard's season around getting this horse right, and the result this week suggests they have. His regular jockey Ben Harvey has ridden him seven times without a win between them, which makes it all the more interesting that someone found the key to him this week.
