The other victory came at Chelmsford at the start of her career, in January 2025. The gap between those two wins hints at the inconsistency that defines her record — she can do the job, but rarely does. She runs best over shorter distances between five and six and a half furlongs, where she has won 2 of 10 races, a 20% win rate that stands out sharply against her overall figures. It suggests that when the yard pitch her at the right trip, she has a genuine chance.

Diamont Katie is trained by K. R. Burke at Coverham in North Yorkshire, a yard that has already sent out 145 winners this season and clearly knows how to get horses to the track in winning form. The horse is actively racing and clearly has something left to prove. At four years old, there is time yet for her to settle into a pattern and win more regularly — but so far, she remains more of a place horse than a winner, and that ceiling may be where she stays.
