His trainer Antony Brittain has suggested that Desert Master was bred with early speed in mind, the kind of horse that ought to be sharp over shorter trips. The evidence backs that up. On normal ground, he has won twice from 31 races, a six percent win rate that, while hardly thrilling, shows he is a creature of habit—predictable conditions seem to suit him better than the extremes.

Cam Hardie, his most frequent partner, has never crossed the line first aboard Desert Master despite 21 attempts together. The horse remains active, having raced just days ago, though his current form has stalled. He has not won in his last six outings, finishing third, fourth, seventh, fourth, second, and unplaced in that sequence. That 19-month gap since his last victory in January 2025 suggests that at five years old, Desert Master may be entering an increasingly familiar phase—the long, slow fade that comes when a horse no longer has quite what it takes to win.
