Trained by P A Fahy out of Leighlinbridge in County Carlow, Dark Lieutenant at least calls a yard in decent form home. Fahy's team has sent out nine winners already this season, so the operation clearly knows how to get horses ready to win. Whether Dark Lieutenant can tap into that form and become one of those winners remains the open question. The horse raced just yesterday, so Fahy is clearly keeping it active and looking for the right opportunity to unlock something.

The recent form figures tell a story worth reading carefully. A run of six races without a win, including finishes that suggest the horse is struggling to land a blow at the business end, points to a horse still searching for its ideal conditions, distance, or level of competition. The yard will be working to find that combination — and with Fahy clearly able to prepare winners, it would be premature to write Dark Lieutenant off entirely.
