What makes the current picture interesting is that Dairy Force is clearly still being kept busy — raced just yesterday — which tells you the team believes there is more to come. That team happens to be Gordon Elliott's operation in Longwood, Co Meath, one of the most powerful yards in Ireland. Elliott's string has sent out 210 winners already this season alone, so they are not in the habit of running horses without reason. When a yard of that size and ambition keeps persisting with a horse, it usually means they see something worth chasing.
The recent form of 12th, 2nd, pulled up, 2nd, 4th, 4th is a mixed picture — those two second-place finishes show Dairy Force can compete and get close, but converting that into a win has proven elusive. At 7 years old, the horse is in its prime racing years, and with Elliott's backing still firmly in place, another tilt at a first win since Kilbeggan is clearly the goal. Whether that moment comes soon is the question.
