Kelso is a tight, turning track in the Scottish Borders that suits certain horses very well, so it's worth watching whether the yard — the team at Wroughton — choose to go back there. The recent form of 10-8-1, reading from most recent to oldest, tells you the win was the first race rather than the latest, and the two runs since have not threatened the places. That slight dip in form after a debut win is not unusual — horses often find things harder once rivals can run knowing what they are.

Cushendall is trained by Alan King, whose Wroughton yard in Wiltshire has been in fine fettle this season, sending out 58 winners. That kind of output from a stable suggests well-organised, well-resourced training, and a horse in that environment has every reason to progress. At six years old, there is still time to develop, and with only three races under the belt, there is plenty still to learn about what this horse can do.
