What makes the situation interesting is the contrast with the yard around it. Comley's Warminster operation has sent out 18 winners this season, which tells you the team knows what it is doing — horses leave that yard fit, ready, and capable of winning races. Crystal Box, so far, simply hasn't been able to take advantage. Whether that is a matter of finding the right race, the right conditions, or just needing more time to mature is the question the team will be working to answer.
At five years old, Crystal Box is not a youngster still finding its feet in the most literal sense, but three races remains a very small sample. Some horses take time to click, and with an active yard behind it, there is every reason to think the yard will keep searching for the right opportunity. The next run will be worth watching — not because the form demands it, but because a first win, when it eventually comes, will feel like a long time coming.
