Crimson Spirit

The highlight came on 28 August 2023, when Crimson Spirit won a Class 2 race at Epsom, which is one of the top-tier events in British racing. Jockey Richard Kingscote, who has partnered the horse to all four of his career wins, described him afterwards as a horse who found "a nice flow" down the famous hill at Epsom — a notoriously difficult stretch that catches plenty of runners out. That natural feel for the track matters enormously there. Kingscote added that the ground was key too, and the numbers back that up: on fast, dry ground, Crimson Spirit has won 3 of just 4 races — a remarkable 75% success rate that makes the ground conditions one of the most important factors in following him.

The partnership with Kingscote is worth highlighting on its own terms. Of the nine races they've run together, they've won four — nearly 1 in every 2, which is an extraordinary ratio in a sport where winners are hard to come by. It suggests a real understanding between horse and rider.

The Kubler yard has had a productive season, sending out 34 winners, and their trainer has spoken warmly about Crimson Spirit's versatility and scope for improvement. Kingscote himself acknowledged after a tricky run at Brighton — where the horse got unbalanced in difficult conditions — that the performance was more about "job done" than showing his real ability. That kind of context matters: a rough recent run of form, including a 10th place last time out, may not tell the full story.

He last won at Epsom just ten months ago in July 2025, and with the Kubler team eyeing upcoming races and the summer dry season approaching, the combination of fast ground and a familiar track could bring the best of Crimson Spirit back to the surface again.
