The numbers tell a mixed story. The problem is the timing: after that breakthrough win at Beverley, the horse has since run twice more without troubling the judge, finishing down the field on both occasions. This sort of stop-start pattern is common in young racehorses, especially over a relatively small sample of races, but it does suggest the form is far from locked in.
The Easterby yard, based near York, has had a strong season with 55 winners sent out already, so Court Legend is in experienced hands. Getting a horse to the track consistently and giving it the right opportunities is half the battle at this level, and the trainers have clearly identified Beverley as a place where this horse runs well — it is both the site of its only win and somewhere worth returning to. The real test now will be whether Court Legend can string together more victories and prove this week's success was not a flash in the pan. At just two years old, there is plenty of time to find out.
