The recent form reads 9, blank, 11, blank, 3 — that third-place finish being the obvious bright spot. The gaps in the sequence suggest there have been breaks between runs, and with a race just yesterday, this is clearly a horse that is still very much in training and being kept active. Class 4 is the level where Could Be You has done most of its work, going zero from three at that grade. That is not a level where horses are expected to be world-beaters, but it is competitive enough that winning still means something.
What is worth noting is the trainer. Neil Mulholland's yard at Limpley Stoke in Wiltshire has sent out 60 winners already this season, which is a serious operation — that kind of volume means horses in this yard are placed with care and trained to a high standard. When a yard is firing at that rate, you trust that they know what they are doing with each individual animal, and a horse like Could Be You would not be kept in training without good reason. Sometimes it just takes time for a horse to find its moment.
