Most of Condotti's racing has come at Class 5 level — the bread and butter of British racing, where the competition is more accessible and wins are there to be taken by horses at this level. Six races at that grade, zero wins. That is a tough record to look past. But zero wins is not the same as zero promise, and a 4-year-old with a placed finish on its recent CV still has time to figure things out.

The honest summary is this: Condotti is a horse that costs its supporters more in near-misses than it rewards them in winners. But it is trained by someone who clearly believes there is a race to be won somewhere, and the search continues. Whether that belief is eventually vindicated is the question every raceday brings a little closer to answering.
