That one win came at Kempton Park on 3 September 2025, and it stands as the defining moment of the career so far. Kempton's all-weather track suits a certain type of horse — one that handles a consistent, fair surface and settles into a rhythm over longer distances — and Club Class duly delivered over a mile and three to four furlongs, the trip at which it has produced its best form. In five races at that sort of distance, it has won once and placed multiple times, which translates to a 20% win rate — or roughly 1 win in every 5 races at that range. That is a meaningful number compared to its overall record of 1 win from 10 races, and it tells you where this horse is at its most dangerous.

What makes the current picture interesting is the recent form. Reading the last six runs backwards — a win, then a second, then a third, then a second, two fourths — there is clearly a horse that was performing well and has drifted slightly since its best day. Raced just one day ago, Club Class is very much an active proposition, not a horse fading into the background.

James Fanshawe's operation in Newmarket is no small outfit — 47 winners in the current season alone tells you this is a yard that knows how to get horses to perform. The regular partnership with jockey Daniel Muscutt, however, is one area that raises an eyebrow. In five races together, they have yet to win, which is a notable blank for such a busy combination. At the Class 4 level where Club Class usually competes — solid, mid-tier races that sit below the headline events — the horse is yet to win in four attempts at that grade, which suggests it may actually need to drop into slightly easier company, or find conditions that suit, before the win column gets another entry.
