His breakthrough came at Newcastle on 18 November 2025, and since then he has added a second win at Great Yarmouth on 30 April 2026. That second victory was four months ago now, which is a frustrating gap, but his last six runs show real promise. He has been placed twice in that stretch and hit third just once, with only one run further back than that — a pattern that suggests he is close to another win. Trained by Charlie Johnston at Middleham Moor in North Yorkshire, Clouds Hill is part of a yard that sent out 131 winners this season alone, so he is at least in the hands of a trainer who knows how to get horses to the winning post.

The real clue to his potential lies in his preferred distance: at races between a mile and three furlongs and a mile and four furlongs, he wins roughly one in every three races. That is a completely different level of performance. He has won once from three races over that ground, which suggests Johnston has worked out what suits him. If Clouds Hill can get back to those distances where he has shown he belongs, and if the form he displayed last time out translates into another run soon, there is every chance this four-year-old could be heading for win number three.
