The career so far has a pleasing shape to it. A first win came at Newcastle in November 2025, and then, after a winter and a return to action, Clouds Hill went back to winning ways at Great Yarmouth just two weeks ago at the end of April 2026. That recent form — first, seventh, first, second, second, third reading back through the last six races — shows a horse that dipped once and bounced straight back. The seventh-place finish looks like the exception rather than the rule, and everything either side of it has been competitive.
Behind Clouds Hill is the operation run by Charlie Johnston at Middleham Moor in North Yorkshire, one of the most productive yards in the country right now. Johnston's team has sent out 128 winners already this season — a figure that reflects both the scale of the yard and the sharpness with which horses are placed and prepared. When a horse comes out of a setup producing winners at that rate, it tends to arrive at the track well-schooled and ready to perform.
With a race just yesterday, Clouds Hill is very much in the thick of a busy campaign. At 4 years old, there is still plenty of development ahead, and a horse already winning 1 in 3 with this level of consistency has every reason to keep rising. One to watch.
