Cites made his racing debut just a day ago, finishing sixth in what will have been a learning experience for a two-year-old finding his feet on the track. That's normal at this stage — plenty of young horses need a race or two under their belt before they show what they can do. Ralph Beckett's yard at Kimpton has been in excellent form this season with 107 winners already, so the infrastructure and expertise are there to help Cites develop. What happens next will tell us whether this debut was simply a matter of inexperience or whether there's something more to come from him as a racehorse.
