Cinammon Roll

The form figures from the last six races — 6-2-6-1-1-1 — tell an interesting story. Read them from the bottom up and you see a horse that won three in a row, which is the sort of streak that makes a trainer sit up and take notice. Then came two runs where it finished sixth, second, and sixth, suggesting the wheels came off slightly, or perhaps the competition stepped up. The first of those wins came at Downpatrick in May 2025, and the most recent was at Perth in July 2025, so in the space of about two months Cinammon Roll was in the form of its life.

That Perth win was now roughly five months ago, and the horse is returning from a break — which always introduces a question mark. A fresher horse can sometimes come back sharper and hungrier, but a long absence can also mean ring-rust or a loss of momentum. The trainer sending it back out will know far more than the rest of us about whether it is ready to perform.

Those decisions rest with Gordon Elliott, one of the most formidable training operations in jump racing. Elliott's yard at Longwood in Co Meath has sent out 209 winners already this season — a number that is almost difficult to picture. That is roughly four winners every week, week after week. Horses trained by Elliott tend to be well-prepared and well-placed, so if Cinammon Roll is declared for a race, it is safe to assume it is ready to run a big one.

On normal ground — not too wet, not too dry — Cinammon Roll has won 2 of 3 races, a 67% win rate that is genuinely eye-catching. If conditions are right, this is a horse that knows how to win, and with a stable as powerful as Elliott's behind it, backing it to bounce back from the break would not be the worst idea in the world.
