The story behind that win matters. Trainer Adrian Paul Keatley, who operates out of Ryedale in North Yorkshire and has sent out 40 winners this season, was candid about the fact that the horse had been running in the wrong conditions earlier in the year — too far, on ground that was too wet. Once he was dropped back to five furlongs on faster, drier ground, everything clicked. His first win came at Pontefract in July 2025, and within weeks he was winning at the top level at Ayr. That is a rapid climb by any measure.

What makes Chairmanfourtimes genuinely interesting is how well he suits a specific set of circumstances. Keatley describes him as "a proper five-furlong horse" — and the numbers back that up. Five furlongs is a flat-out sprint, no room for tactics, and this horse thrives in it. At Ayr he was flat out from the start and still stayed on strongly to win, which tells you something about his raw speed and stamina for the trip. Keatley also notes he is big and scopey — physically, he still has room to develop — which suggests the best may genuinely be ahead of him next season.

His most regular jockey is Oisin McSweeney, who has partnered him in six of his ten races and been on board for both wins — a win rate of 33%, or 2 from 6, when the pair are together. That kind of partnership, a jockey who knows a horse's quirks and a horse that clearly responds, tends to matter more than people think at the sprint distances where split-second decisions define races.

His last three runs have produced a third, a second, and then a win at the top level — a horse moving in the right direction at the right time. He raced just one day ago, so he is firmly in the middle of his season. Whatever comes next, Chairmanfourtimes has shown he belongs at the sharp end of sprint racing.
