He has won half of his four races at that distance, which is a genuinely impressive ratio and suggests the step up from sprint trips suits him. His recent run eight days ago — finishing eighth from 14 — is the latest data point, but given his sensitivity to ground conditions, the surface that day matters more than the result.

Billy Loughnane has ridden him in five of his 14 races and won once together, roughly one in every five rides — not a dominant partnership yet, but a consistent one. Carron mostly operates at Class 4, the middle tier of British racing, where he has won two from six, around one in every three. Nothing extraordinary, but a horse who wins at that level consistently, handles his best conditions well, and is described by his trainer as still progressive at four has every reason to keep improving through the summer.
