The recent form tells a fairly consistent story: finishes of 14th, 9th, 6th, and then a non-completion make up her last four outings, with the sixth-place finish being the closest she has come to troubling the judge. She raced just yesterday, so whatever happened on that occasion is still fresh — and the fact that she keeps being entered suggests Paul John Gilligan's yard in Athenry, Co Galway, believes there is something worth chasing. Gilligan has sent out five winners already this season, so there is clearly ability in the team to get horses competitive. Whether Carrigeen Kirkia can tap into that remains the question.
At six years old, she is not young for a horse still searching for her first win, and with no victories from four attempts, patience is being tested. Sometimes horses like this find their level and surprise everyone — but based purely on what we have seen, that moment has not arrived yet.
