Cameclose

Davison trains out of Dunboyne in Co Meath and has sent out eight winners this season, so there is clearly ability within the yard to get horses performing. That makes Cameclose something of a puzzle — the talent is presumably there, the trainer clearly knows how to win races, but something has not clicked yet for this particular horse. Whether that is a matter of finding the right race, the right conditions, or simply time and experience is the question those around it will be asking.

At three years old, Cameclose is still young and there is no shame in taking time to develop. Some horses take a while to work out what is being asked of them. But five races without a place finish is a run that needs turning around, and the coming weeks will reveal whether that fourth place was a sign of progress or just one good day among difficult ones.
