Those two Class 2 wins arrived in quick succession in the summer of 2024 — first at Salisbury in late June, then at Newbury less than a month later. Breaking through at that level and then backing it up immediately is no small thing. It suggested a horse on the rise, one that had found its confidence and was making the most of it. Across all five races at Class 2, Caburn has won 2 of them — a 40% win rate at that grade, which is genuinely impressive. Most horses struggle to win even once at that level.

The partnership with jockey Dylan Hogan is worth noting. In eight races together, Hogan has ridden Caburn to all three of its career wins — that is a win rate of 38%, or roughly 1 in every 3 rides. That kind of chemistry between horse and jockey is not a coincidence; it suggests Hogan understands how to get the best out of this particular animal. Behind the scenes, the operation is run by James Tate out of Newmarket, a yard that has sent out 50 winners already this season — so Caburn is not the only one doing the heavy lifting, but it is clearly part of a well-organised setup.

The most recent win came at Great Yarmouth in September 2025, about seven months ago, and recent form figures of 12-3-8 since then show a horse that has been finding things tougher. A third place in there keeps the profile respectable, but the wins have dried up for now. Having raced just one day ago, Caburn is clearly still being kept busy. Whether the form that produced those two sharp summer wins in 2024 is ready to resurface is the question — but a horse that has already proven it can win at a high level, and that has a jockey who clearly brings out its best, is never one to write off entirely.
