The most recent win, at Killarney just this week, is the headline. Killarney is one of Irish racing's most picturesque and well-loved tracks, and to win there at eight years old suggests Burru still has plenty of enthusiasm for the job. That followed a first career victory at Cork back in November 2024 — so both wins have come at tracks in the south of Ireland, which is worth noting if you're watching where this horse runs next.
The recent run of form makes for interesting reading: finishing first, then unseating its rider, then eighth, then third, sixth, and third again before that. It's a mixed picture, but the two placed efforts sandwiching that difficult patch show a horse that bounces back. The current sequence, ending in a win just a day ago, is about as good a moment as you could pick to be paying attention to Burru.
One curious footnote: the horse's most regular partner in the saddle, Mr R Sugrue, has yet to ride Burru to a winner across five attempts together — a 0 from 5 record. That's not necessarily anyone's fault, but it does mean both of Burru's wins have come with someone else in the saddle. At eight, with a win landed just this week, Burru is a horse in form and worth keeping an eye on.
