His trainer Jonathan Portman, based at Upper Lambourn in Berkshire, describes Bulletin as a slow-maturing type who still has room to grow — "still only a baby," in his words — and that context matters. A yard that has sent out 46 winners this season clearly knows what it is doing, and Portman has spoken warmly about a run at Glorious Goodwood where Bulletin stepped up in distance and finished third behind a horse called Push The Limit. Finishing third at one of Britain's most famous summer meetings is no small thing for a horse still finding his feet.

Portman believes Bulletin is better over longer distances — a mile and a quarter to a mile and a half — and that he appreciates some give in the ground, meaning wet or soft conditions tend to suit him. That preference for softer underfoot conditions makes him a horse worth watching when the weather turns, rather than on fast, dry summer ground.

His most recent win came at Kempton Park in August 2025, and his most frequent partner in the saddle is jockey Rob Hornby, who has ridden him in 9 of his 14 races and won 2 of them — a win rate of 22%, or just over 1 in every 4 rides together. That kind of familiarity between horse and jockey often matters more than the bare numbers suggest; Hornby clearly knows how Bulletin travels and when to ask him. Most of Bulletin's races have come at Class 4 level, one of the mid-tier grades of British racing, where he has won 1 from 6, and there is a reasonable argument that as he matures and the right conditions align, he could make his mark at a higher level yet.
