What we do know is that the breeding is serious. The sire, Sea The Stars, is one of the most celebrated stallions in Europe, and his offspring have a strong record of developing into high-quality horses over a mile and beyond. The mother's side brings in High Chaparral, another influential name, so on paper at least, Buen Tiempo comes from exactly the kind of family that produces horses built for middle-distance racing at a decent level.
The trainer, P Twomey, operates out of Cashel in County Tipperary and has been in fine form this season, sending out 42 winners already — which for a yard of this size is a genuinely productive run. A trainer firing on all cylinders tends to have their horses fit, well-prepared, and confident when they arrive on debut, which matters more than people realise. Watch this space.
