That might sound modest, but it's a meaningful difference. It suggests Bruant is a horse that needs time and space to get into a rhythm, and that anyone running it over a sprint distance is probably wasting their time.

Recent form is harder to defend. The last six runs show finishes of 10th, 13th, 14th, and 11th, with a couple of non-completions mixed in. That's a horse that has been well beaten and, on the face of it, struggling to find its earlier level since that Downpatrick win — now ten months ago.
