The recent form makes for difficult reading. Finishing 12th, 5th, 4th, 12th, 9th, and 10th across its last six races, Bright Image has shown occasional flickers — that 4th and 5th suggest it isn't always out of contention — but has never been able to sustain a challenge when it matters. A 5th or 4th finish might represent its ceiling on current form, and even those finishes are the exception rather than the rule.
What is perhaps most telling is the age. At seven, Bright Image is no youngster still finding its feet. Horses typically develop and improve in their early years, so by this stage, what you see is largely what you get. Having gone 0 from 8 with no placed finishes at all, the bar for optimism has to be set realistically. Racing just yesterday, the horse remains active and its the yard are clearly still searching for the right opportunity — but on current evidence, that opportunity may be a long time coming.
