Brazilian Belle

Her trainer Michael Dods is no small name. Based at Piercebridge in County Durham, his yard has already sent out 43 winners this season — that's a serious operation, and Brazilian Belle is part of an ownership club Dods has set up, putting four or five horses in the hands of a group of members who get to follow them through the season. It's exactly the kind of setup that makes racing genuinely fun for people new to it: a real horse, a real trainer, real skin in the game.

What makes Brazilian Belle interesting is the recent improvement in form. After a slow start to her last six runs, she's come alive — finishing third, then winning, then winning again. That last win came at Wolverhampton in March 2026, eight weeks ago. She clearly has a preference for normal ground conditions, winning 2 from 6 (33%) on a standard surface, and she's at her sharpest in short, sharp sprint races under five furlongs — 1 win from 3 (33%) at that distance, which is a strong return. Dods has noted she can get a little keen in races, so keeping her to a flat, fast sprint suits her temperament as much as her ability.

Regular jockey Connor Beasley has ridden her nine times, winning once together — roughly 1 in every 9 rides (11%). That's modest on paper, but the partnership has stayed intact, which suggests the team sees value in the continuity. Her career began with a first win at Catterick Bridge in May 2024, and she's steadily accumulated experience since. With two wins in her last six races and a run just yesterday, Brazilian Belle is in form, fit, and very much a horse to watch right now.
