The highlight so far came at Newcastle on 5 December 2025, which remains the sole career win to date. That victory was over six months ago now, and since then the form figures make for slightly mixed reading — a sixth, then a second, then a fifth, a ninth, and most recently a second place just yesterday, suggesting the horse is still running with enthusiasm and hasn't gone off the boil. Finishing second in the most recent race is actually an encouraging sign: it means Brave Traveller is placing itself in the conversation at the sharp end, even if the winner has been proving just out of reach.
Interestingly, the horse has run three times at the level it typically competes at — Class 5, which is towards the lower end of the racing ladder — without winning any of them. That zero from three record at that level is a small puzzle, given the overall form suggests a capable horse. It may simply be a matter of finding the right race on the right day.
Bryan Smart trains the yard from Sutton Bank in North Yorkshire, and this has been a productive season for the stable — 19 winners sent out already, which speaks to a team in decent form. A yard operating at that volume tends to know its horses well, and Brave Traveller, still only three years old, has plenty of time to add to that solitary win at Newcastle. With a second place recorded just yesterday, the next victory may not be far away.
