Blue Siam

The recent form tells a familiar story. Looking at the last six races, Blue Siam has finished fourth, fifth, fifth, sixth, second, and fourth — that second place being the closest it has come to a breakthrough. It raced just yesterday, so it is clearly fit and active, but the winning moment continues to dodge it. Going 0 from 14 is the kind of record that makes you wonder whether the right race has simply never come along, or whether winning just isn't in this horse's toolkit.

Most of Blue Siam's races have come at Class 6, which is the lowest tier of British racing — the level where horses with modest ability find their feet, or in some cases find their ceiling. It has run seven times at that level without winning, which is genuinely puzzling. Class 6 is where you would expect a horse to have its best chance, and yet Blue Siam has drawn a blank every time. That said, Hosie's yard has sent out 8 winners this season, so the trainer clearly knows how to get horses ready to win. Whether he can unlock something in Blue Siam remains the question.

At four, it is not ancient, and some horses take time to mature and find their confidence. But with no wins from 14 attempts and recent finishes that rarely threaten the front of the field, Blue Siam needs something to change — a drop in the quality of its rivals, a different trip, or simply a day when everything clicks. For now, it remains a horse with a story still waiting to be written.
