Blue Seeker

The distances of 7 furlongs to a mile look like the sweet spot on paper — Blue Seeker has run 11 times over those trips and picked up its only win there. But even at those distances, the record reads 1 win from 11 races, which is roughly 1 in every 11, and the recent results suggest the horse is not currently running to even that modest level. The bulk of its career has come in Class 5 races, which sit near the bottom of the racing ladder — essentially the entry-level tier where horses compete who have not been able to win at higher grades. In 10 races at that level, Blue Seeker has yet to win, which underlines just how difficult things have been.

The training operation behind the horse is run by Oliver Greenall and Josh Guerriero out of Oldcastle in Cheshire, and it is a yard that clearly knows how to get winners — 43 victories this season alone tells you these are capable, active handlers. That context matters, because it means the lack of results with Blue Seeker is unlikely to be down to poor preparation. The horse is being looked after by people who understand their job. Whether Blue Seeker can rediscover that Wolverhampton spark and give them something to shout about again is the question that keeps the horse in training. For now, it is still racing — it ran just yesterday — and in that sense at least, the story is not finished yet.
