What keeps the story interesting is the persistence. At nine years old, this horse is still active, raced just yesterday, and shows up consistently even if the wins do not. The bulk of its career has been spent in Class 5 races, the entry-level tier of British racing, where it has managed 1 win from 40 attempts at that grade. That is a hard slog by any measure, but it also means Blended Stealth has been competitive enough to keep being entered, week after week.

Peter Kavanagh rides most often, partnering the horse in 15 of its races for that single win together — a 7% win rate, or roughly 1 in every 15 rides. Trainer Lizzie Quinlan, based at Bolton Mill in Cumbria, has sent out 4 winners this season from her yard, so the operation clearly knows how to get a horse to the line first. Hexham, a tight and testing track in Northumberland, is where Blended Stealth finally delivered, and that local knowledge may well have played a part.

The recent form — finishing fourth, fifth, and sixth across the last six runs — tells the story of a horse that competes without threatening the podium much. But Blended Stealth raced yesterday, which means it is still in the game, still travelling to tracks, still trying. For a nine-year-old with one career win, that is perhaps the most remarkable fact of all: the team keeps believing, and the horse keeps showing up.
