The recent form figures of 4-3 tell an encouraging story of gradual improvement. A fourth-place finish followed by a third suggests Bit Of A Buzz is getting the hang of things and creeping closer to the sharp end of a race. Racing just yesterday, this is very much a horse in active campaign, and the yard — sorry, the team — clearly feel there is more to come.
That team is worth knowing about. Gavin Cromwell operates out of Navan in County Meath, and his yard has been in seriously productive form this season, sending out 97 winners. To put that in context, that is not a trainer who fills his yard with also-rans — horses leaving Cromwell's stable tend to arrive at the track ready to perform. For a young, unproven horse, being part of an operation firing on all cylinders is no small advantage. Whether Bit Of A Buzz can reward that patient placement with a first win remains to be seen, but with youth on its side and a sharp yard behind it, the story is far from written.
