That first win came at Warwick in October 2025, and it seemed to open something up. His last six races read 5-1-2-2-8-5 — the 8 a blip in the middle, the rest a run of solid placing and then a second win at Chepstow just three weeks ago in late April 2026. Trainer Christian Williams, whose yard at Ogmore-By-Sea in Glamorgan has sent out 25 winners this season, explained the bad run simply enough: the horse had ulcers, was treated, and came back to form. It is the kind of thing that gets lost in raw numbers — a medical issue dragging results down, then results bouncing back once it was sorted.

The one curiosity worth noting is that Beau Quali has run six times at the higher class level and won none of them, a record that suggests he is most dangerous when the competition is pitched right for him. Jockey Harry Skelton has ridden him in nine of his 16 races and they have won together once — an 11% win rate, or roughly 1 in every 9 rides. That is modest, but the partnership is clearly the stable's first choice, and with the horse racing just yesterday and clearly in good heart, there may be more to come.

Williams flagged before the Chepstow win that he expected the horse to match or improve on his best form once the ulcer issues were behind him. So far, that has proved right. Beau Quali is not a star, but he is a horse hitting his best form at six — and sometimes that is exactly the right time.
