The partnership with jockey Robert Havlin has been central to that success. In 21 races together, Havlin has ridden Audience to all five of its wins — a win rate of 24%, or almost 1 in every 4 rides. That kind of record between horse and rider tends to develop over time, a mutual understanding of when to push and when to wait. Audience is trained by David O'Meara at Upper Helmsley in North Yorkshire, one of the busiest yards in the country — 107 winners already this season, which gives you a sense of the scale of the operation behind the horse.

What Audience clearly loves is normal ground — not too wet, not too firm — and the numbers back that up. On standard conditions, the horse has won 4 of 13 races, a win rate of 31%. That is a striking return in any company, let alone in top-level racing. Newmarket is also something of a happy hunting ground: 2 wins from 6 races there, including a Class 1 victory in July 2023.

The honest part of the picture is that Audience has not won in six races, with recent finishing positions of 9th, 13th, 11th, 12th, 3rd, and 5th — a slide that includes some distant finishes. The last win came at Goodwood in July 2024, now 22 months ago. That is a long wait for a horse that has shown it can win the best races. Whether that win at the top level proves to be a peak or simply a pause is what makes Audience worth watching now — the horse raced just yesterday and remains active, so the answer may not be far away.
