The headline on his résumé is a Class 2 win at York in August 2025 — one of the top races in Britain, at one of the most prestigious tracks in the country. York is not a place where ordinary horses win at that level. It sits alongside his more recent victory at Newmarket just this week, which confirms he is in the form of his life right now. His recent run of results — a win, two thirds, a second, and a fourth across his last six outings — paints the picture of a horse in excellent nick, rarely finishing far from the money.

What makes Asgard's Captain particularly interesting is how sharply his record improves when the conditions suit him. On normal ground he wins at 31% — 4 times from 13 races — which is a striking number for a horse at this level, where even the very best trainers rarely get close to that. And stretch him out to a mile and one or a mile and two furlongs, and the numbers become almost startling: 3 wins from just 4 races, a 75% win rate at that distance. He has been trained throughout by Dylan Cunha, whose Newmarket yard has sent out 45 winners already this season — a serious operation clearly in fine form.
