The highlight of the career so far came at Goodwood on 2 August 2024, when Artagnan won a Class 2 race — one of the better races in the British calendar. It was the first win of the career, which makes it all the more striking. Debut winners at that level are one thing, but a horse saving its first victory for one of the top tiers of the sport suggests there was always something there worth waiting for. Goodwood is a famously tricky, undulating track where even experienced horses can struggle, so winning there at that level on a first attempt is not something to brush past lightly.
Since then, Artagnan has added a second win at Chelmsford in October 2025, and raced as recently as yesterday, which means this is a horse very much in the middle of an active campaign. The yard itself is in good form — 18 winners so far this season — which is the kind of momentum that tends to matter. At the Class 4 level where Artagnan most often competes, the record reads 1 win from 4 races, a 25% win rate, or roughly 1 in every 4. That is a solid return at that tier, and with a Class 2 win already banked, it is fair to wonder whether the yard believe there is still a higher gear to find.
