Arlo's Girl

Her recent form tells an interesting story. Reading right to left — oldest to newest — she has gone 1, 4, 7, which means she won, then finished fourth, then seventh in her most recent run just yesterday. That dip in form after a win is not uncommon for young horses still figuring things out, and at three years old she has plenty of time to find her feet again. The question now is whether that Lingfield win was a sign of things to come or simply a high point she has yet to match.

She is trained by Joseph Parr out of Newmarket, the heartland of British flat racing in Suffolk. Parr's yard has sent out 6 winners this season, which suggests a stable in decent working order rather than one firing on all cylinders — but for a relatively young operation, consistent winners matter more than volume. Parr will have a clear sense of where Arlo's Girl fits and which opportunities suit her best, and Lingfield Park is presumably a track worth revisiting given what happened there last August.
