Arduis Invicta

The numbers tell a mixed story. Over nineteen races, Arduis Invicta has won just twice and placed six times, a win rate of roughly one in every nine races. That is respectable enough for a horse still learning, but the real insight comes from looking at where those wins came. At Class 5 level — the kind of bread-and-butter races that make up the backbone of British racing — the horse has a 40 per cent record, winning two of five attempts. Step up the grade and the picture darkens. In its last six races, Arduis Invicta has finished nowhere near the front, collecting a second place and a fourth place but otherwise showing little sign of getting back into the winners' circle.

Trainer Craig Lidster, based in Norton, North Yorkshire, has built a decent season with twenty winners from his yard, but Arduis Invicta does not appear to be among the bright spots. William Pyle has ridden the horse six times, winning once — a 17 per cent win rate that is marginally better than the horse's overall form but nothing to build a partnership on. The pattern is clear: Arduis Invicta is a Class 5 horse that occasionally finds a race at that level to win, but has neither the consistency nor the class to move up. At just three years old, time remains, but unless the form changes quickly, this looks like a horse that will be a useful, occasional winner rather than a rising star.
