Yet step the horse up into Class 2 — one of the better races on the British calendar — and suddenly a different animal shows up. The most recent win came at Newcastle on 13 December 2025, and it was a Class 2 success, meaning Apotheosis has consistently found a higher gear when the occasion demands it. That is not a fluke; that is a horse that competes better when the competition gets stiffer, which is a genuinely unusual trait.

Ground matters here too. On normal conditions, Apotheosis has won 2 from 5 races — a 40% win rate that is exceptional by any measure. Two wins from five on your preferred surface tells you this horse is not just picking up minor races on good days; it is consistently delivering when the conditions are right.

The recent form figures — 6-2-15-1-16-13 — tell a slightly more complicated story. That winning run of 1 is sandwiched between some patchy efforts, and the most recent outing (a 13th) was just one day ago, which means this horse is very much in the thick of an active campaign. Inconsistency at the day-to-day level, but capable of something special when the stars align.

Behind the horse is one of Newmarket's most productive yards this season. Simon & Ed Crisford have sent out 79 winners in the current campaign — a yard in seriously good form. When a team like that targets a particular race with a horse that has already shown it can win at a high level, it is worth paying attention.
